Schools, parents concerned about dwindling "makeup" days

Posted: Updated:
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Parents, students and school staff from around the region are prepared for delays and cancellations from the anticipated winter blast that could blanket the area.

The Cumberland Valley School district has used three of the four makeup days for the school year, and officials are ready to use up another makeup day if classes are canceled on Wednesday.

The weather has had an impact of parents who have planned family vacations for this year's spring break.

Katie Reed is a parent in the Cumberland Valley School District. She says she didn't expect to lose two spring break days because of Super Storm Sandy when she planned her family trip.

Students at the Susquehanna Township High School were talking about using up another spring break day if classes are canceled.

Maggie Reddecliff is senior who is looking forward to a snow day. "I would like a day off," said Reddecliff, who will attend Ohio State University in the fall on a athletic scholarship. "A snow day would be a lot of fun."
