Man cleared of crime after spending 9 months in jail

A Harrisburg man has been cleared of a crime, but only after spending nine months in jail.

Tahir Gardner, 19, was accused of ramming a police car and dragging an officer back in January of 2012. Nine months later, a DNA test proved hair belonging to the suspect was not his.

All along, Gardner maintained his innocence, saying he was not at the scene of the crime that night.

"It was a crazy situation," Gardener told abc27 News exclusively. "Thank God I'm free and my name's cleared."

Dauphin County has waived all of Gardner's court fees. His lawyer said he's not sure if they will sue.
