MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police have arrested two men for stealing 15 catalytic converters from new trucks at a Cumberland County auto dealer.

Spencer Thomas, 23, of Enola, and Matthew Fordyce, 23, of Carlisle, admitted to taking the emissions control devices from Dodge trucks at Cumberland Valley Motors and going to two scrap yards to get money, according to Silver Spring Township police.

Both men face four felony counts each of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, plus eight felony conspiracy counts, according to court documents.

The anti-pollution devices were stolen last week from the auto dealer at 6720 Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg.

The loss from the theft was reported to be more than $81,000, police said.

Thomas and Fordyce were sent to Cumberland County Prison on $7,500 cash bail. Preliminary hearings were scheduled March 20.
