HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
A week-long lockdown at Dauphin County Prison will be lifted on Tuesday at 6 a.m. Normal visitation hours will resume at that time.
The prison has been locked down since last Tuesday, March 5. At that time correctional staff discovered that 25-year-old Andthony Ray Spears had used a handmade tool to dig a hole in his jail cell wall.
He faces several charges related to the escape attempt.
Damages to the cell are estimated at $5,000.
During the lockdown, inmates had to remain in their cells, and visitation was restricted while prison staff conducted a thorough sweep of the premises.
