A York County man has been charged with animal cruelty and reckless endangerment for fatally shooting his neighbor's dog while the pet was inside a fenced yard.
Joel Jackson, 49, of Manchester, confessed to the crime and told officers the dog seemed aggressive and made him nervous, according to Northeastern Regional police.
Jackson stated that he was sitting in his living room when he heard the dog barking Saturday evening.
He admitted that he grabbed a pellet rifle, walked to the first block of York Street, and shot the German shepherd-boxer mix in the chest, according to police.
The one-year-old dog died a short time later.
