Coyotes can be a very destructive animal and it appears they are becoming more and more common around the midstate.
Rob Wilbur of Wilbur Wildlife Control Service in Mechanicsburg said they moved into the area about 10 to 15 years ago.
Wilbur said the coyotes have thrived locally because of all the housing developments that have sprung up. That provides a safe haven from hunters and also makes it easier for them to get food.
Some would say they coyotes help control the rodent population, but Wilbur said they can just plain clean out the wildlife population. A more pressing problem for residents; their menu also includes small dogs and cats.
"If you have a small dog or cats and stuff like that you want to keep them close because that's the opportunity they're waiting on," said Wilbur.
Wilbur said you may have actually seen a coyote but thought it was a stray dog. Wilbur said they are not known to attack people.
