Danville, VA - The projected revenue from the City of Danville will bring in from meals tax is more than $6 million.
Officials say healthy meals tax revenues are a good indicator of a city's economy.
The $6 million figure is right on track with what local officials had hoped for, meaning the city is on a upswing.
"As the economy grows or as it gets better, people eat out more, there's more revenues coming in. It's a good indicator that things have turned around in the City of Danville, " said Budget Director Cynthia Thomasson.
The current meals tax rate in Danville is 6%.
