A team effort is underway to make Northern York county schools safer.
The school district and the Carroll Township police department have announced daily school patrols. Each school day, an officer will patrol inside each of the four schools in the district.
The mandate was announced Friday night by police chief Sean Kapfhammer.
In a statement, the chief also said his officers will attend more school events and will participate in story telling time with younger students.
Kapfhammer cites violence across the country as the reason for the effort. He said he hopes the school community will have greater peace of mind knowing the police are close by.
