City of Lynchburg Hosts Budget Workshop

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg residents were invited to attend a budget workshop held by the city.

The workshop was held Saturday afternoon, and was a part of the city's citizen engagement process.

Residents got to hear some of the proposed cuts in the budget. Lynchburg Tourism could be faced with a $570,000 cut.

Also Parks and Rec stands to lose a few of the classes it offers.

The workshop also offered a chance for residents to learn about six focus areas of the budget.

City Manager Kimball Payne says he's happy to see the public getting involved.

"I think it's always interesting when you have a conversation with citizens and hear their different perspectives on how this community operates and their thoughts on how we can make it better," said Payne.

Another Workshop will be held Tuesday March 19th from 6p.m. until 9p.m. at Sandusky Middle School
