Carroll Township police said they were able to successfully persuade a suicidal man to drop his weapon during a standoff with police.
Police were called to the first block of Clemens Drive in Dillsburg for a possible suicidal person around 10 p.m. Saturday.
Police said they found a man lying in a bed upstairs, holding a handgun. They said the man pointed the gun at a police officer who was coming up the stairs. The man threatened to shoot himself, police said.
Officers were able to talk the man into dropping the handgun and he was taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation, according to police.
One next door neighbor was evacuated for about 20 minutes during the standoff.
No injuries were reported.
