HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A dead opossum found dead on a toy shelf at a Harrisburg day care center has tested negative for all diseases, including rabies, according to the operators of the facility.

Hildebrandt Learning Centers, which operates the Auditor General Child Care Center in the Finance Building, said the animal found Tuesday morning was tested by the state Department of Agriculture and the results were reported to the center this morning.

Managers at the center have said all soft materials in the older toddler room, where the opossum was found, were to be thrown out and the classroom was to be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

There was no indication from children or staff that the animal was touched, officials said.
