Plaintiff in Proposition 8 case to speak at Dickinson

Posted: Updated:
CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

One of the plaintiffs at the center of the Supreme Court case challenging California's Proposition 8 legality will speak at Dickinson College in April.

Kris Perry will share her experiences with this landmark case in a lecture entitled "Same-Sex Marriage & The Supreme Court: A Plaintiff's Story."

Perry is challenging the 2008 ballot initiative that amended California's constitution to only recognize marriage between a man and a woman.

Perry has been in a relationship with her partner, Sandy Stier, for 13 years, and they have four children together. Perry is the executive director of the First Five Years Fund, a national organization that provides quality education to disadvantaged children.

The event will take place on Monday, April 8 at 7 p.m. in the Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium at 360 West Louther in Carlisle. It is free and open to the public.
