Charlottesville - Roy Devyn Marble scored 24 points and Iowa ended Virginia's 19-game home winning streak with a 75-64 victory in the NIT quarterfinals on Wednesday night, earning the Hawkeyes a trip to Madison Square Garden.
Marble's 3-pointer with 13:02 to play gave Iowa (24-12) a 42-41 lead and sparked a 19-5 run.
Justin Anderson scored a career-high 24 points to lead Virginia (23-12), but the Cavaliers had no answer once the Hawkeyes took charge.
It was only the second home loss for the Cavaliers, and both denied them a trip to New York. The first came against Delaware in the Preseason NIT, also with a trip to Madison Square Garden on the line, and had been Virginia's last home loss. Mike Tobey added 15 points for UVa, Joe Harris chipped in 11.
But the Cavaliers' season comes to an end, Iowa will meet Maryland next week in the NIT semifinals in New York.
