Pilot error may have led to Lancaster County plane crash

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

Investigators believe this weekend's deadly plane crash in Lancaster County may have been caused by pilot error.

The ultra light plane took off from Smoketown Airport in East Lampeter Township around 5:45 Saturday evening, but went down 100 yards away, landing on an unoccupied mobile home.

Investigators believe the plane ascended too rapidly and stalled in mid-air.

The pilot, 30-year-old Michael Blank of Lancaster County, was killed.  He was the only person on board the aircraft.
