Women of Wisdom Conference Kicks Off in Lynchburg

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA - Breast cancer prevention took center stage at a women's conference in Lynchburg Wednesday night.

Women of Wisdom, a local Christian, women's empowerment organization sponsored the event being held at the Liberty Mountain Conference Center.

Wednesday's meeting kicked off the first of four nights of the conference.

Each day will be aimed at teaching women about better health practices, and specifically, preventing breast cancer.

Featured speakers included a doctor, as well as two local breast cancer survivors.

"Who will be talking to the women that are coming into the conference tonight to heighten awareness, tell their stories and to empower women that they can survive, and that breast cancer is not a death sentence. We want to give hope" said the organization's founder, Jacqueline Clark.

The conference runs through Saturday. Organizers say more than 300 women are expected to attend.
