LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police are investigating the death of a Millersville University student who was found Monday night along a Lancaster County road.

West Hempfield Township police said they are trying to determine whether the injuries to 19-year-old Kevin Michael Chavez were caused by a hit and run vehicle or by other means.

An autopsy indicated that Chavez had multiple traumatic injuries, but the manner of death was not immediately determined.

Two drivers came upon Chavez lying in the 1500 block of Silver Spring Road and started CPR until officers and EMS arrived just after 9:30 p.m., police said in a news release.

He was then transported to Lancaster General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Chavez, of Landisville, was a 2011 graduate of Hempfield High School.

Anyone with information concerning the case is asked to call the West Hempfield Township Police Department at 717-285-5191 or 800-957-2677.
