The Pennsylvania Senate has passed a bill that would allow crime victims or their families to testify at parole hearings.
Senate Bill 508 would change the current law that only allows crime victims to give written or oral comments for parole board consideration, and to testify before a hearing examiner, but does not allow for direct testimony before the board.
The legislation now goes to the state House of Representatives, where a similar bill was unanimously approved last month.
