Harrisburg police investigate shooting at playground

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A man was shot at a playground on Tuesday evening, but he was unable to provide police with the names of anyone at the scene or the driver who took him to the hospital.

On April 9 at 7:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to Harrisburg Hospital on a report that a man was receiving treatment a gunshot wound.

The shooting victim told police that he had left his Penbrook home and headed to a playground in the 1200 block of Rolleston Street to play basketball with friends.

As he stood on the sidewalk, he heard a gunshot and realized that he had been shot in the thigh. A friend drove him to the emergency room.

The man was not able to provide the names of anyone at the playground or the identity of the friend who took him to the hospital.

Officers checked the playground but could not find any witnesses or evidence.
