HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives has unanimously approved a bill to name a stretch of Route 23 in Lancaster County in honor of Sergeant First Class Brent Adams.

Adams, a Pennsylvania Army National guardsman and native of West Hempfield Township, was killed in action while serving in Iraq on December 1, 2005.

House Bill 1022 would designate Route 23, from the intersection of Ivy Drive to the intersection of Prospect Road, as the SFC Brent Adams Memorial Road.

If the legislation is approved by the Senate and signed by Governor Tom Corbett, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will post signs along the stretch of Route 23 displaying the new name.
