Gilligan's Island Star Stops by Hill City

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA - One of the lead actors in Gilligan's Island was in Lynchburg Wednesday.

Dawn Wells, who played Mary Ann on the hit T.V. show, appeared on Living in the Heart of Virginia.

She's promoting a new book and documentary, set to be released in 2014.

Part of the documentary, put on by Carter Media, will be shot in Roanoke. It's about how Mary Ann's character is still relevant nearly 50 years later.

But Wells says she doesn't miss playing the role at all.

"I enjoyed every single minute of it. But, there's a growth process as an actor. And I think I've had an opportunity of doing more difficult roles," Wells said.

Wells says the only co-star she keeps in touch with is 'The Professor,' who is 86 and hard of hearing.

She plans on visiting him on her way to Vancouver for a personal appearance, and to see the original S.S. Minnow.
