Update: Police ID Man Killed in Shootout Involving Montgomery Co. Deputies

Update 10:30 a.m.:

Montgomery Co., VA – State police say the man shot by police in Montgomery County was Robert Kevin Hughes, 41, of Christiansburg.

Investigators say county deputies and officers from the Christiansburg Police Department went to serve drug warrants on a man on Ridgeway Drive about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.

They say Hughes ran out of the home and started shooting. He was killed and died at the scene.

No deputies were injured, and the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.

Montgomery Co., VA - The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says a man was killed in an officer-involved shooting Wednesday afternoon.

The Sheriff's Office says deputies from their office and the Christiansburg Police Department were trying to serve drug warrants on a man on Ridgeway Drive around 3:15 p.m. They say the man pulled out a gun and shot at the deputies. The man was killed in the shootout. No deputies were injured.
