HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A pair of robbers threatened and assaulted a Midtown Harrisburg woman Wednesday night before running off with her purse, according to police.

The 23-year-old woman told officers she had parked her car and walked to a home in the 200 block of Hamilton Street shortly before midnight, and the robbers approached her as she knocked on the front door, police said in a news release Thursday.

She told investigators that one of the men asked if she had a cell phone, and when she told him no he asked for $5, police said.

When the woman declined to give the man money, she said one robber hit her on the head with a hard object, police said.

The two then demanded the woman's purse and tried to pull it from her, and yelled that they were going to kill her as she resisted, according to police.

The robbers eventually ran off with the purse when the strap broke. The woman suffered a contusion and lost her money, credit cards and a cell phone, police said.

Anyone with information may call Harrisburg police at 717-255-7299 or 717-255-3114.
