Police made an arrest after investigating reports that a man stole 97 items from a Wal-Mart in Ephrata Township.

On Saturday at around 3:45 p.m. the Ephrata Police Department was dispatched to the Wal-Mart in the 800 block of East Main Street.

Employees told officers that they had seen a man take items from display shelves, place them into shopping carts, then leave the store without paying for anything.

Authorities say the 97 unpaid items, which included clothing and food, were valued at over $665.

Following a police investigation, officers identified the suspect as 54-year-old Diego M. Garcia of Lancaster. Records indicated that the US Marshal's Office held a warrant for Garcia's arrest on a federal probation violation for a firearms offense.

Garcia is currently in Lancaster County Prison on the retail theft charges and a detainer from the US Marshal.
