CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Cumberland County man is behind bars after police said he tried to kill a woman Friday night.  This is according to abc27's media partner, The Sentinel.

State police said 26-year-old Michael Woods drove a Carlisle-area woman to a location off of Ridge Road in South Middleton Township.  When she tried to run, troopers said Woods tied a belt around her neck and pulled it so tight she lost consciousness.

Police said he then dragged her to a wooded area and struck her several times in the face and stomach.
