The state Department of Revenue said it will not penalize Pennsylvanians who could not file their personal income tax returns because of website problems Monday.
The technical issues prevented access to Pennsylvania's website for e-filing tax returns, tax forms and customer service for about four hours.
Revenue Secretary Dan Meuser said that because of the technical problems, the department will not impose penalties or interest on anyone who files a return by midnight Tuesday.
Meuser said the Revenue Department became aware of the website issues shortly after 1 p.m., and website access was restored before 5 p.m.
There's no word on the cause of the technical issues, which affected the websites of many departments under the governor's jurisdiction, but officials said the problem wasn't triggered by a cyber-attack.
