Shooting suspect turns himself in to York police

Posted: Updated:
YORK, Pa. (WHTM) -

Authorities say Flair Griggs, the man wanted for the shooting death of Joseph Gomez in York on Saturday, turned himself in at police headquarters.

Police issued a criminal homicide warrant against Griggs, who was then turned over to York County Central Booking.

Officers were able to locate Jaquane Balls, who is no longer wanted for questioning.

Griggs is charged in connection with Saturday's shooting. Police arrived at the McDonald's on South George Street in York at around 1:00 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired.

Authorities believe Griggs and Gomez knew each other, and they don't think the attack was random.

York's Police Chief told abc27 that this was a "tragic event," and he says the shooting shows that "more work needs to be done to get illegal guns off the streets."
