GETTYSBURG, Pa. (AP) - A central Pennsylvania judge has denied a new trial to a woman convicted of third-degree murder in the stabbing death of her husband 2½ years ago.
The (Hanover) Evening Sun (http://bit.ly/15cAWtL ) said Adams County Judge Michael George ruled that 21-year-old Leah Marie Lippy had failed to prove that her trial attorney had not provided effective legal counsel.
George had sentenced Lippy to 10 to 40 years after convicting her in a nonjury trial in the October 2010 slaying of 23-year-old Adam Lippy.
During trial, she said she accidentally stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife during an altercation at their Berwick Township home.
She said Monday that she drew the knife only to scare her husband and the victim himself advised her to make up the accident story.
