CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

Carlisle police said they are investigating a case of attempted arson at the old Lear building now owned by Carlisle Events.

A security guard reported seeing several young adults throw a lit flare into construction materials at the building, located at 50 Spring Road, at around 2:15 a.m. Sunday, police said.

The actors then fled in a car described as a blue four-door Honda with black wheel rims, police said. The guard was able to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher.

Anyone with information may call Carlisle police at 717-243-5252.

Carlisle Events has been working to redevelop the former Lear complex, where a massive fire in May destroyed two buildings and damaged several others.

That fire was ruled accidental. Investigators said it began in a second-floor storage unit where demolition crews had been removing metal.
