HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Harrisburg man who escaped from a halfway house last month is back behind bars, this time in California.

Police say 55-year-old Danny Gaudio was serving a nine-year sentence for robbing banks in 2005, including one in Lewisburg.

In March Gaudio left the halfway house and never returned.

According to authorities, Gaudio traveled across the country to California. Police say he robbed several banks in that state, earning himself the nickname "The Beach Cruiser Bandit."

His image was captured on surveillance video, and a restaurant employee called police after seeing his wanted poster and catching sight of him in his pizza shop.

Gaudio reportedly considered himself a prophet on a mission to warn the country of a government-led health industry conspiracy.
