A 14-year-old Lancaster boy has been charged with robbing a man of his cash, cell phone and cigarette lighter, according to city police.
The 22-year-old victim reported that he was walking in the first block of Reo Avenue Sunday at around 9:30 p.m. when three males put a gun to his head and demanded his belongings, police said.
The victim said he dropped his cash and lighter on the ground and one of the robbers forcefully removed his headphones and attached cell phone, according to police.
The 14-year-old city boy was taken into custody minutes later by a responding officer, but the other two escaped. Police said they found the victim's cell phone under a nearby vehicle and the teen directed officers to the location of a backpack that contained a B.B. gun, which apparently was used in the robbery.
The victim positively identified the 14-year-old as the person who held the gun to his head and took his property, police said.
The teen was charged with robbery and committed to the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center.
Anyone with information concerning the crime is asked to call Lancaster City Police at (717) 735-3300 or Lancaster City/County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-322-1913. Tipsters do not have to give their names.
