Police investigate series of robberies in Harrisburg

Posted: Updated:

Police are investigating multiple robberies that took place within close proximity on the same night, including the armed robbery of a 27-year-old woman.

Authorities say the victim was walking to her car in the 100 block of State Street at around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Police say she was approached from behind by a masked man who pressed a hard object against her back and demanded her bag.

The woman gave him the bag, which contained a small amount of cash and her cell phone. The robber told her to get on the ground. She did so, and he fled. The victim then drove to a residence and called police, who arrived shortly thereafter.

According to authorities, the robber was wearing a ski mask, a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. They say he also had a "country" accent.

Later, two people in the same area reported that someone had broken into their cars and taken items. Police say it is possible that the robbery victim encountered the man while he was breaking into cars.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information may contact police at 717-255-3114 or 717-558-6900.
