Middletown residents await May primary

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (WHTM) -

Middletown Borough Council has made several tough business decisions that have drawn mixed reactions from residents.

Council kept its promise to lower electricity rates, but they decided to discontinue funding the library, which just appointed a new executive director and operates as a non-profit.

Changes have been made with the police department as well. They approved the department's move to another location. Officials said the current facility was outdated, and the new location will allow for long-term growth.

Brenda Thomas says she has agreed with some of the moves the council has made, but she will continue to attend meetings to get more information before she votes next month

Five seats are up for election. Four council members are seeking re-election. The primary is May 21.
