Posted:

Pittsylvania Co.,VA--  Over 100 young people were very busy at the Olde Dominion Agricultural Complex in Chatham Thursday evening, with their livestock.

They were getting their animals weighed, in preparation for tomorrow's 65th annual Pittsylvania Caswell Junior Livestock Show. Organizers said there will be 38 steers, 28 heifers, 28 hogs, 58 lambs and 33 goats showcased.

They said livestock shows like this help teach young people some life lessons.

"They have to make sure that they have adequate space, adequate housing, adequate feed," said Jamie Stowe, Extension Agent with the Virginia Cooperative Extension Office in Pittsylvania County."They also have to walk them or work with them every day to train them, so it teaches them a lot of responsibility."

The showcase will be Friday from 8am till 4:30pm. The livestock sale will start at 7pm. Admission is free.
