HERSHEY, Pa. (WHTM) -

People from across Pennsylvania were in Hershey on Sunday to honor fallen state troopers at a public memorial ceremony at the State Police Academy.

The names of the 94 troopers killed in the line of duty since 1905 were read aloud to the congregation.

State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan says that the troopers' families are a vital part of the memorial service as well.

"Anything we can do to make sure they still understand that they are still a part of our family, we're going to do that. And ceremonies like this really brings that home."

Following the service, the Pennsylvania State Police Historical, Educational & Memorial Center opened its doors to its exhibit, aptly titled "The Ultimate Sacrifice."
