Police: Suspect in Greenbelt incidents in custody

Posted: Updated:

A man suspected of suspicious activity around women on the Capital Area Greenbelt has been taken into custody, police announced Wednesday.

Swatara Township police had been investigating an April 24 incident where a man jumped out of the woods at a woman walking her dog on the section of the nature trail between South 28th Street and South 19th Street.

The same man, police said, had reportedly jumped out of the woods at two other women, but none of the women were threatened or touched.

Police said a suspect was developed within 24 hours of the April 24 incident and was arrested on an outstanding warrant for criminal trespass two days later. He was questioned about the Greenbelt incident and sent to Dauphin County Prison on parole violations.

Authorities have not released the man's name because he has not yet been charged with any crimes surrounding the Greenbelt incidents.

Police said their investigation is continuing and they are still interested in speaking to the two other potential victims, who have not come forward.
