Governor Tom Corbett announced Wednesday that he has nominated Dr. Carrie DeLone for the state's physician general.
DeLone, 55, of Camp Hill, will advise the governor and the secretary of health on all medical and public health-related issues.
She also will be responsible for reviewing professional standards and practices in medicine and public health, as well as overseeing the department's disease prevention and control efforts.
DeLone currently is a physician advisor at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, where she is the liaison between hospital administrators and physicians.
Her nomination requires confirmation by the state Senate.
