Allbritton Communications CEO Robert Allbritton said he has decided to explore a number of strategic options for WHTM-TV and the company's other television stations, including a possible sale.
Allbritton made the announcement Wednesday in a letter to the TV stations, adding that the decision was not an easy one for him and his family.
Allbritton's father, Joe L. Allbritton, founded the company which owns eight ABC network affiliates in seven markets along with a cable news channel in Washington. He died in December.
"I have not known a more impressive group of professionals in any industry," Allbritton wrote. "I am extremely confident that your professional dedication will continue as we truly are in a "business as usual" mode until final decisions are made."
