An Enola man was charged with DUI and several other criminal counts after he crashed into a Wormleysburg home and later kicked the window out of a police vehicle, according to authorities.

Brian James Estright, 37, apparently was driving at a high rate of speed Sunday evening when he lost control in a curve off the Harvey Taylor bridge, went over the sidewalk and struck the porch of the home in the 500 block of N. 2nd Street, according to West Shore Regional police.

Estright fled before officers arrived but was located in the 1000 block of N. Front Street a short time later, police said.

It was apparent that he was under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance, and he was taken into custody for DUI and hit-and-run, police said.

Estright then became belligerent and uncooperative and kicked the window out of the vehicle, police said.

He was additionally charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, institutional vandalism and accidents involving damage to occupied vehicles or property.

Estright was being held at the Cumberland County Prison on $75,000 bail. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 22.
