HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Dauphin County man has been jailed on allegations he set fire to a vehicle in an effort to impress a woman, according to police.

Lower Paxton Township police said they arrested 19-year-old Hamza Gulfam Swati, of the 2400 block of Kensington Way, on charges of arson, stalking and related offenses.

Swati is accused of setting fire to the vehicle early Tuesday in the 4200 block of King George Drive in the Brook Apartments.

Police said the arson, which severely damaged the vehicle, was related to an ongoing situation which had no connection to the owner of the vehicle, other than where the vehicle was parked.

The motive was an effort to impress a woman living in the apartment complex that Swati had been stalking, police said.

Swati, who sustained burns to his arms, neck and face in the arson, was sent to Dauphin County Prison on $250,000 bail.
