Harrisburg Police: man murdered early Wednesday morning

Posted: Updated:
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Harrisburg Police are investigating an homicide that took place in the early morning hours  ednesday.

Over 24 hours later, police say Robert Diggs Jr., 25, was found dead on his dining room floor with a gunshot wound to his head. Neighbors say they called police to report hearing gunshots overnight on Tuesday. They say police never came.

Police went to his apartment on the 1400 block of South 5th Street Thursday morning after receiving a tip from a witness around 3:45 a.m. According to a press release, police say the manager of a local business called to say he had an employee who wanted to tell police about a shooting.

The witness told police she had been at a party where man was shot but did not know the location of the party. Police said the woman was not from the area and didn't know the location of the party.

Police determined the location of the party and entered the apartment to find Diggs dead on the floor.

Detectives searched the apartment for evidence all day Thursday and said they interviewed people who attended the party. There is no suspect at this time and police are still looking to interview several people.

Thursday afternoon, abc27 saw officer take items from a dumpster and put a black garbage bag into a police unit.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Jason Brinker at 171-255-7298 or Lieutenant Robert Fegan at 717-255-3114.
