HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

PennDOT has reopened the ramp from westbound Route 22 to southbound Interstate 81 at the Harrisburg area interchange where a tanker truck overturned and caught fire this morning.

The ramp was reopened at 1:40 p.m.

PennDOT spokesman Greg Penny said westbound traffic on Route 22 approaching the I-81 Exit 67 interchange can now continue through the interchange to go west toward Dauphin and State College, north onto northbound I-81, and south onto southbound I-81.

Eastbound Route 22/322 approaching the interchange can continue south on southbound I-81 or through the interchange to northbound I-81.

Interstate 81 remains closed in both directions in the vicinity of the interchange.

The ramp from northbound I-81 to westbound Route 22/322, and eastbound Route 22 through the interchange toward the City of Harrisburg remains closed.

Penny said the road closures will remain in effect until further notice while the structural integrity of the bridges is evaluated.

The tanker was fully loaded with diesel fuel when it overturned and caught fire shortly after 6 a.m. on the I-81 northbound ramp to 322 West near mile marker 67.
