UPDATE: House Damaged, Firefighter Injured in Roanoke Fire

Roanoke, VA - Two people were injured, including a Roanoke firefighter, after a house caught on fire on the city's northwest side Monday.

When crews got on the scene Monday Morning they found flames coming primarily from the back half  of the home in the 1500 of Centre Avenue.

The woman who lived in the rental property suffered light smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene.

Two of her three cats died.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury when he was shocked by a live wire.

Fire officials say the cause is unattended cooking.

Roanoke, VA – Roanoke fire crews are on the scene of a house fire on Centre Avenue.

The fire started at a home in the 1500 block on Monday morning around 11:00 a.m. One firefighter suffered minor injuries. Two cats were killed in the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

    Police in Lower Paxton Township are investigating another string of car and home break-ins.According to police, two homes on Wesley Driver were reported broken into.One home had cash from a wallet stolen, and a purse was reportedly rifled through.Police say entry was gained through an unlocked door.The second home did not have anything reported missing, but investigators say entry was gained by using a key which was left in a car parked in the driveway.In addition to these incidents, police s...More >>
