Township to honor Newville soldier who died in Iraq war

NEWVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Newville area soldier who was killed in Iraq will have a memorial plaque unveiled in his honor at the West Pennsboro Township Park.

Sgt. Timothy L. Hayslett was 26 years old when his patrol was struck by an improvised explosive device November 15, 2003 in Baghdad. He lived in Lower Mifflin Township and attended Big Spring High School.

The memorial plaque paying tribute to his sacrifice will be unveiled during a dedication ceremony Friday, May 17 at 5 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial in the park, at 30 Park Road in Plainfield.

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. Seating is limited, so visitors are encouraged to bring their own chairs.
