Police in suburban Harrisburg said they arrested three young men for breaking into several vehicles early Thursday.
Steven Bekelja, 18, Matthew Shaffer, 21, and Aqib Kahn, 18, all of Harrisburg, have been charged with 14 counts of theft from a motor vehicle, criminal conspiracy, and theft by unlawful taking, according to Susquehanna Township police.
Officers had responded to the 600 block of Glenbrook Drive at around 3:15 a.m. when a resident saw three men go into his neighbor's unlocked vehicle, police said.
Police initially were unable to find anyone, but discovered several vehicles in the area had been entered and items including a handgun, electronics and clothing were missing.
Authorities also found a vehicle parked in an odd position nearby, and kept an eye on it for about two hours until Bekelja, Shaffer and Kahn returned to the car on foot, police said.
The tree admitted to entering unlocked cars in the neighborhood, had several stolen items in their possession, and showed officers where they had hidden more stolen property in the woods nearby, police said.
