Platts, Flannelly judge race to be continued

YORK, Pa. (WHTM) -

Republican voters have nominated Todd Platts as their candidate for judge in York County's Court of Common Pleas, but the former U.S. congressman will face his opponent again in November.

Platts defeated Michael Flannelly in Tuesday's GOP primary by receiving 56 percent of the vote to Flannelly's 44 percent, but both candidates cross-filed and Flannelly beat out Platts in the Democratic contest, where he had 56 percent of the vote to Platts' 44 percent.

Platts represented Pennsylvania's 19th district from 2001 until he retired in January.

Flannelly was appointed to the Court of Common Pleas last summer, following the death of Judge Chuck Patterson.
