Roanoke, VA - As part of statewide disaster training, the Roanoke Community Animal Response Team held a drill at the Roanoke Civic Center Thursday morning.
The goal of the drill is to get the 45 members acquainted with check-in procedures. The group would run an animal shelter at the Roanoke Civic Center in the event one is needed.
The shelter allows pet owners to bring in their animals while using the neighboring human shelter.
The group was thrown into service just days before they were officially activated during last year's windstorm in July.
