ANNVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

It was another huge crowd on hand for the annual Memorial Day service at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Among those that addressed the crowd was James Metcalfe, director of the cemetery.

"This is a day of both mourning and meaning," he said. "For remembering and for respect."

Many of those who come here wouldn't think of being any where else.

"We haven't missed one in years and we'll continue to be here," Navy veteran John Pechar said.

"We're here every opportunity we can," Marine veteran Craig Butt said. "We're here to remember fallen veterans."

If you're not quite sure what Memorial Day means or you just can't get the full spirit of one of these ceremonies, talk to a veteran.

"It means we honor those that gave their lives in defense of the country and is a day to show respect for all military," Pechar said. "Freedom isn't free. People pay their lives so that you have this freedom. Remember that."

"My parents are buried right on the other side of this wall here," said Butt. "They're all veterans and I'm going to be buried here."
