Danville Church Launches Mobile Location

Posted:

Danville, VA - A church in our area has switched from a traditional place of worship, to something more unique.

Faith Church Ministries in Danville switched out their old space for a ballroom.

Members of the church have to transform the ballroom at Mount Hermon Courtyard into a place of worship every weekend.

The move takes a lot of time, work, and energy, but they say it's definitely worth it.

"We are able to rent this building out each week and we had looked at possibly buying a place and of course that would be easier in some aspects because we wouldn't have to set everything up and tear it down but we just felt God leading us to this location," said Josh Yeatts, the Lead Pastor of Faith Church Ministries.

The process starts at 7:30 a.m.

"We get the instruments out, we get the projectors and screens, and sound equipment, and of course, tables and different things that have to be set up and all the chairs," Yeatts said.

"It's a long process but I do think it's worth it in the end," said Landon Woods, Youth Pastor of Faith Church Ministries.

Members say the two hour process is worth it, because church isn't really about the building.

"Where two or more are gathered, the Lord is there, so it doesn't really matter where the place is," explained church member Hazel Gray.

"In the Bible, Jesus, he would get out in a boat and get out in the water and then preach to people in the shore and I think that God is calling us to do some things that are non-traditional," Yeatts said.

By meeting at their new place, church leaders say they're able to reach more people in the community.

"It's a good location. Where we were before wasn't as good because people couldn't find it, but now it's on a main road," said church member Shannon Yeatts.

"The other day, especially Mondays after we've done all this, it's like ‘oh my goodness, that was hard', but I think you know, I wouldn't trade it for nothing," Pastor Yeatts said.

Faith Church Ministries still has a Friday night and Sunday night service at their first location. The service at their mobile location is every Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m.
