Police made two arrests after responding to the scene of a burglary in process in Lebanon County.
On Wednesday at around 2:45 a.m. officers were dispatched to the first block of North 8th Street for a report of a burglary in progress.
The caller officials that three men were trying to break into an apartment behind the property. The witness was able to give police a description of the burglars and a vehicle.
Authorities arrived at the scene and found two men who fled on foot. They were both arrested within a block of the incident.
Police were also able to find a hammer and a firearm along the escape route. Officials also said that there was damage to the apartment entryway: The door knob was knocked off, and marks consistent with hammer strikes were found on the door.
Authorities charged 26-year-old Pablo Cruz-Cruz from Lebanon and David Maldonado from Myerstown with attempted burglary, possessing instruments of crime, illegal possession of firearms, loitering and prowling at night.
They were arraigned and placed in Lebanon County Correctional Facility on $250,000 bail.
