A Carlisle area woman has been arrested for allegedly taking money that was never given to the charities for which she claimed to be collecting.
Middlesex Township police said 28-year-old Desiree M. Reed and a child were going door-to-door to solicit money for the March of Dimes and other charities on behalf of a school.
The school charity drive had ended, however, and Reed and the child were not authorized to collect money, police said.
According to the charities Reed claimed to represent, as well as the school, the money collected was never turned over to the school or to any charity, nor was it authorized by any party at the time of the incidents, police said.
Reed was arrested at her home in the Country Manor Trailer Park and charged with corruption of minors, theft by deception, and theft by unlawful taking, police said.
